The World is Beautiful or Fucked…

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Hey there fibreglass freaks a lot going on at the moment waves wise, with a swell or two a week gracing us with it’s presence, sand here and banks there one minute only to be washed away and be replaced with a bunker, rip bowl or in Bondi’s case a couple of fatish winding lefts (my wave of choice). Pleasure and pain is what best describes whats been happening aquatically, hope you’ve been getting your fair share.

As far as boards go i’m in a bit of a holding pattern, the Mandala order hits the docks this week and will take a little while to filter through customs while they saw a couple in half looking for massive blocks of hash, so i’d imagine i’ll have them in my hot little hands within 10 days. I’ve hooked up an exclusive agreement with Mandala Surfboards so Six Ounce will be their go to guy for this part of the world. I’m in the process of putting together an order now so if anyone out there is keen on a custom then let me know and i can get it happening. There are a bunch of boards from Mackie that will hit the racks late next week with two new models and some funky art work that should put your heads in a fuckin spin. Talking about spinning heads Dain Thomas and Paul McNeil from Sea Surfboards have started a new underground board and clothing lable called Zed, Six Ounce will have the very exclusive first batch of stock boards from these two very talented fuckers in the next 6 weeks or so, Dain sent me a couple of pics of some prototypes that they have been working, the 9′4″ is a real heavy blade like log that has been under Dain’s feet and is meant to be off the chissang, the other are yet to be surfed, i’ve included the photo’s below and keep your eyes on my site for all goings on Zed wise.

Below is a bunch of random shots from the last couple of weeks and a few customs that have been filtering through.

Never ever stop surfing

Six Ounce and Bing sitting in a tree…..

Monday, July 5th, 2010

I’m flush with new boards to add to the site, it’s a matter of where to start and how much to blow your minds. Lets start with Bing. I’ve set up an agreement with the dudes that are bringing in Bing Surfboards and i’ll be showcasing all the stock they have  as well as the boards i’m holding of their’s, and making them available to you fuckers through Six Ounce. I’ll throw down a few pics of whats around and put a full list on the current stock page. So check them out and if there is anything that tickles your fancy drop me a line, i’ve got couple of Bings i’m riding and there’s a few demo’s floating around and they all go real frickin good, real smooth rides that give back ten fold whenever asked the question.

See you out there,

If you build it they will come…

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

So it finally happened a new look and feel for the Six Ounce Site, and hopefully it was a stack quicker to load. There will be heaps to look at as i get a feel for uploading new posts. I will be keeping a current stock list and the ability to search through the site for boards by brand that your interested in. But the short of it is i’m fuckin psyched, its going to make speading the word, smell and feel of Six Ounce a joy.

There are a stack of new boards to put up and i’ll start with a couple of new Takayama rejigged Flo Eggs with the 5 fin option, as per, the tint and pigment work is un human, i ordered these ones with a tad more thickness through the chest, with that low tak rail it’s good to have a little more paddle power. Young Will Whitiker of Bondi via vico has been riding his pretty much full time and the word is that the quad set up is the way to go. The other two are a couple of Bings, the 6′2″ Lotus is a demo that feels bullshit under the arm, it will be waxed shortly. The green tinted motherfucker is a 6′2″ Bing Synchronizer with the bonzer 5 set up, there was a small ding that has been fixed on the nose and i’m in two minds either to wax and surf it or… but if someone out there is keen it will be going for a bit cheaper, and the fix is good.

For all those interested my trip to Hawaii was off the hook, if you surf then at some stage you need to make the pilgrimage to the mecca, its not hard to scratch below the tourist skin to get a real feel for the place. Paddling out in front of the Duke statue at 5:30 in the morning to surf Queens i was getting the old goosebump, there is a smell and feel for the place that i know will drag me back until i cant stand on a board (but by the look of some of the locals there is no age barrier to surfing the hallowed Waikiki streach). And when you do go make it a point to call by The Surf Garage or at the very least check out their site www.surfgarage.com, Toro and Dan are passionate individuals who run a great store that has me pining for my own space again, boys there are a couple of Six Ounce tee’s heading your way.

As always thanks for sticking by the site.

Power & the Passion

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Here at Six Ounce we love visitors and especially ones that shape, last week Matt Calvani and the manager of Bing Surfboards Margaret came through after the Noosa surf festival and delivered a bunch of boards and went through them all with me. The guy is so passionate about boards it was great to have him in the store, and the quality of his finishes are out of this world. Swing in and check them out. News flash new website is only two weeks away, getting real amped.

Also a mate is trying to shift a couple of rare ones a 6′5″ Rich Pavel hand shaped bonzer 5 and a 6′10″ Malcolm Campbell hand shaped bonzer 5, they are in mint condition and i can provide photo’s and dimensions for anyone interested.

Bings are on the way

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Hey there fibre freaks, it’s getting exciting around here, got my first batch of Bings in and i’m pretty chuffed. These are fully imported from the states a finer crafted board you’ll have trouble stumbling accross, i got three in which are featured below and there are a bunch more to follow, whats exciting as well is that Matt Calvani head shaper for Bing & Jacobs Surfboards (California) will be in Sydney in a couple of weeks after doing the rounds at the Noosa surfing festival and he’s going to grace us with his presence. He’ll be here on the  Sunday 28th March. This will be a good chance to ask Matt anything to do with shaping and the Bing Surfboard label. Matt has a huge amount of respect in Cali and is a gifted, down to earth shaper. So come on by, i’ll post the times he’ll be around later in the week.

There are also a couple of new van Straalens in store, which are being felt up as we speak. And finally a couple of new Neal Purchase jnr boards heading down later in the week it’s a great time to cruise into six ounce.
